How
long have you been working at New Life?
I have been at this wonderful job for just over a year.
What areas you oversee?
I oversee Mini-Lights (Nursery) for ages 0-2, Little Lights for children ages 2-4, and StoryHour for children ages 0-4.
What type of education/training have you had?
After obtaining my Early Childhood Education degree I worked in various daycares for 15+ years. I have volunteered with children’s programs since I was a teenager. I also recently completed a three year ministry course through the Leadership Development Network (LDN).
What other experiences have you had in life that help make you amazing at what you do?
God has equipped me with a deep love for children. Everywhere I go I enjoy interacting with children and desire to show Jesus love to them.
What is your favourite part of the job?
I definitely love hanging out with the kids. It’s so cool to see life through their eyes.
What do you hope to accomplish in your role?
My goal whenever I am with kids is to provide them with the best opportunity to encounter God.
Who are your immediate family members?
My family include my husband Erik the carpenter, my daughter Carmen (11) the dancer, and my daughter Serenity (5) the smiley one.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I enjoy reading a good book, spending time in nature, and writing stories for children.
What is one thing about you that most people don’t know?
Someday, I would like to have one of my children’s stories published. I recently completed a correspondence course to improve my writing, and would love to go to the library someday and see a book on the shelf with my name on it.
